Small Taxing Unit Notice
The City of Wells will hold a meeting at 7:00 PM on September 11, 2023, at Wells City Hall, 293 Rusk Ave. Wells, TX 75976 to consider a proposed tax rate for tax year 2023. The proposed tax rate is 0.44324 per $100 of value. The proposed tax rate would increase total taxes in the City of Wells by 3.71%

Routine Flushing

The new aerator was installed today, and the utility workers are flushing. The water pressure will return as they finish. This may take a few hours to move patches of old water out of the lines.

Summer Republic Trash pick up times

Starting June 1, 2023, Republic Services requests that all customers place their trash carts by the street at 6:00 am Wednesday mornings for the one hundred summer days. As always, trash carts must be removed from the city's ROW (power poles to the street) 24 hours after collecting trash. This early time will end on September 9, 2023.

Reminder to Customers - Flushing Wipes

It is essential NOT to flush any wipes down the commode into our sewer system. This includes wipes that say they are flushable, baby wipes, and disinfecting wipes. Our system can not process them, and it will cause damage to the sewer system. If we lose our sewer system, the City of Wells utility system will shut down, causing severe problems and sewer backups into customers' homes.
